Three Generations in the Trades.
Some companies put "family owned" on the truck because it tests well. For us it's just the literal description: HVAC technicians and electricians on my dad's side, cement masons on my mom's side. I grew up around panel boxes, refrigerant gauges, and job-site coffee. The trade isn't a business model we picked — it's the family language.
ANT HVAC & ELECTRIC exists because we think the trades have an honesty problem, and we'd rather be the fix than part of it. That means showing our math: when we size a generator, you see the load calculation. When we quote a repair, you see the line items. When a $40 part fixes it, we say so and pick up the $40.
How to Verify Any Installer's License in Illinois
Here's something most homeowners don't know: Illinois has no statewide electrical license. Electrical licensing here is handled town by town — Chicago, Aurora, Naperville, and your suburb each run their own program with their own requirements. That means "we're licensed" is an incomplete sentence. The right question is: "Licensed by which municipality, and can I see the number?"
- Ask which town issued the license and look it up with that municipality's building department.
- Ask for the certificate of insurance — any legitimate contractor sends it without friction.
- For generator work specifically: confirm who's pulling the permit. If the answer is "you don't need one," call your building department yourself. (You almost always do.)
